Bass Guitar
The electric bass guitar is the primary bass instrument in most modern musical genres. It has, for the most part, relegated the traditional stand-up double bass to classical music and traditional jazz. However, with the exception of its more horizontal stance, it is played in much the same way as double bass.
The electric bass guitar is similar in design to an electric guitar, with a few exceptions. The most noticeable difference is that the instrument uses four strings instead of six, like a regular guitar. However, there are variations on this theme, with some basses using five or six strings.
Other notable differences between an electric bass guitar and a regular electric guitar include a longer neck and a somewhat larger body on average. There are variations on these differences as well. For instance, some basses use a smaller scale neck than others.
