Guitar Pedal

A guitar pedal is designed to change the sound of the guitar. How much it is changed, and how it is changed depends on the type of pedal being used. There are literally hundreds of different pedals that are available to today’s guitar players.

Possibly the most popular guitar pedal is the distortion pedal. These are designed to make the instrument sound as if the speaker were being overloaded. It is a very popular effect in most hard rock and heavy metal bands.

Another popular guitar pedal is the “wah-wah”. They really came to prominence during the disco era of the 1970’s. Today they can be heard in many different genres of music.
